Talking to Will Van Zeeof Van Zee Sign Co. about his beginnings and what motivates him.

"For me, my art is so rooted in graffiti and graffiti is something you do as a group.  The first time I ever did graffiti was with two of my life-long friends.  They're my crew - my family -- without those guys I wouldn't be where I am today.  I do my best to bring the people who supported me back into my life.  I am truly hoping to share the wealth-- if that ever happens."

“I’ve loved letters ever since I started writing cursive in the third grade -- and that translated into graffiti pretty quickly... that’s what brought me to NYC..”

“My favorite letter is S.  S is for Seattle, S is the first letter of the word that a lot of people call me by name.  In my opinion it’s the most beautiful letter - I have the most fun writing it, drawing it, painting it, scratching it.”

“I’m not sure who said it but the quote goes something like this:  ‘you can’t achieve your dreams unless everyone around you knows them.’  And that’s 100 percent truth for me.  That’s what’s gotten me here and that’s what continues the process every day.”
